Re: Solar Gains query

If I understood you correctly, the issue is presenting itself in CIBSE load (steady state calculation), but not in the dynamic simulation (Apache)? Since dynamic simulation is showing the expected result, then I would expect this has to do with limitations with steady state calculation.

Re: Reset Windows 10

I think it would be best that you first uninstall IES using this guideline, and then reinstall after changing your windows.

Also, wouldn't hurt to e-mail support your query, as they would know best how to handle they keys.

Re: material assignment

the setpoint from building template manager/tabular room data is what defines the range at which the unmet cooling/heating loads are calculated, i.e. you are defining what the thermostat in the room should be reading. The setpoints in HVAC tell the system at which temperatures it should be cooling/h...

Re: Solar Gains query

that's quite odd... can you share an image of your model so we get a better understanding of how it looks? Also, are you re-running the suncast calculations after performing each change?

Re: Modelling a Vacuum Partition

you can't specify the "vacuum" as far as I know. But you can "work around" this by assigning low U-value to the partition wall to simulate thermal isolation from that room.

Re: Need help to create a new window from manufacturer data

To change the final U-value of the glass just play around with the air gap resistivity, and to change the g-value play around with the transmittance properties. Unfortunately its all trial and error to get the correct U and g-values. You can generally ignore a slight change in the U-value or g-value...

Heh I know that "interesting article" folder all too well... thought it was just me :p

if the design of the shutter is simple enough to calculate the opaque area, then I suppose that's a good approximation... mine was very... "artistic"

Re: External and internal simulation

your windows are probably set to be closed all the time. Make sure you have appropriate profiles assigned to them.

Re: What's the best way to model supply and extract?

using a prototype system allows you to auto-size the network and minimizes the risk of human error with controllers and profiles. But that is about it, you can go either way for setting up your HVAC.
