Hi Folks,
I'm wondering if you could help with some information as I'm working through the NPV calculation of a heat pump system.
IES VE has given me the heat requirement of my modeled multi-storey tower block as 181,133 kWh/year - this is the total heat that would be charged to all the residents ...

Re: Process to calculate heating loads after creating ModelIT building?
CP, thanks for the quick reply! My apologies again if it seems as if i'm swimming up a stream backwards, but in recent weeks I feel i'm really getting there with this. IES has been my first foray into computer modelling so its certainly been a learning curve! :)

Process to calculate heating loads after creating ModelIT building?
Hi all,
Relative newbie here, however I've been making excellent progress in creating a residential block of flats from which I have to calculate the heating energy consumption. I've had a look at the forums (and extensive pdf tutorials) but i'm still a bit confused so please accept my apologies if ...

Re: Unheated Spaces - Do I Need to Bother?
Hi there,
This is SUPER, thanks so much for that. Yes, the constructions within these zones are different (and have different thermal/insulation properties) so i may be ok to omit them. That saves some time!

Unheated Spaces - Do I Need to Bother?
Hi all!
Real quick question! I'm modelling a block of flats, within which there are unheated spaces such as the stairwell, lift shaft, electrical switch rooms, and drying areas.
Some of these areas have louvered openings to the outside (such as drying areas). I was going to go to the trouble of ...

Re: Help with assigning and replacing thermal constructions
Hi there!
Thanks so much for replying, much appreciated (sorry for the delay, i didn't get a notification to say someone had replied).
In short - that's it in a nut shell! Took me numerous passes to figure out that was the case - its certainly not the easiest screen to follow but focusing on 'what ...

Help with assigning and replacing thermal constructions
Hi all!
Before posting this, I had a look at other topics similar (including the constuctions tutorial pdf) but can't find any. So, here goes in the hope someone can help...!
My model of a tower block is going along A OK, and I'm now at the stage of assigning thermal constructions. I believed this ...

Folks!
These responses have been nothing short of perfect! Thank you so much for the time you have invested in getting me up and running with this.
I gave the user guides the once over, admittedly missing a few things being eager to jump in with the user friendliness of the package. I totally ...

How to Add a Floor
Hey folks,
I've recently started with IES VE - great tool! I'm able to create a single floored model, but i am unsure how to add (or copy ground floor rooms to) other floors.
I seem to be able to add floors within the 'edit room groups' button, however i can't seem to copy rooms to these new (what ...
