Hi,
Why doesn't this surprise me? I've just had a similar problem with a model. In my case, the cause of the issue was- although all surfaces were assigned as being adjacent, for some reason, the large majority of internal holes within the building were being considered external.
The cause was ...

Re: Assessing Mean Average During Occupied Time
Hi John,
Thanks for providing details on how to achieve this.
Is this something that might be incorporated into future software revisions by means of additional analysis setting?
Assessing average, peak and minimum values within occupied time or a given time period would be really useful to a lot ...

Assessing Mean Average During Occupied Time
Dear All,
I am trying to assess something pretty basic within VistaPro, however to date I am yet to find a solution.
I am trying to assess the mean average of a variable (in the current case, volume flow in through a window), during occupied time only.
A mean average function is available within ...

Re: Model-IT REALLY annoys me
sub-contract to someone who knows how to use the modelling software in IES.
I've tried Sketchup and contracting out works for construction in TAS, for import into IES.
Both resulted in geometry issues. Even with a perfectly clean Sketchup model, ModelIT will still mange to knacker it upon import ...

Re: ADDING A COMPLEX ROOF
Hi Mark,
I'm not entirely sure what the make-up of this complex roof is, but bear in mind that 'roof' element will need to form the external surface boundary of a room -whether that's a roof void, or the ceiling of one of the rooms in the building. There's various ways to go about it depending on ...

Re: ModelIT Remains a Complete Disaster for Buildings not Composed of Perpendicular Lines
I'm inclined to agree a fair degree that the precision of snaps has a good deal to do with the problems that occur. Compared to Autocad for instance, snaps do seem a lot less reliable. The software could help matters out by providing alerts that adjacencies are unmatched or surfaces are missing ...

Hi there -thanks for the comments. I do hope that future releases do continue to improve the modelling element of the software, as has generally be the case for the past few years.
I have been modelling in IES for 6 years now on an almost daily basis, so I have a good understanding of ...

ModelIT Remains a Complete Disaster for Buildings not Composed of Perpendicular Lines
I have recently been involved with modelling a cylindrical building and am currently modelling a building composed of several wings at acute angle from one another.
Anticipating the cyclical building to be geometrically challenging, I used the Sketchup plugin to model the geometry for import into ...
