Re: lighting in w/m2 vs lux levels and controls

Hi

I try to use power density each time, I think inference is only for existing buildings where you don't have lighting calc's or know Wattage or lux etc.

At design stage or RIBS Stage 2 for energy statement reports etc you could just go with a default power density 3.0 W.m-2/100lux, I usually go ...

Re: CIBSE Loads - Intermittent heating profiles & preheat margin

Hi guys

Just a few thoughts, hope it helps.

In Apache Sim you can change the heating systems from unlimited to a specific heating capacity in kW.

Using this, I sometimes run a calculation to determine the heat load with an unlimited capacity heating stem. Then if this seems oversized, I input a ...

Radiance Accelerad

Hi all

Just wondering, has anyone used Radiance Accelerad with Radiance IES?

I'd be interested to know if anyone has seen simulation times reduce or whether you've had any issues.

Thanks

Re: mechanical ventilation problems

Hi

Is this in VE Compliance ApSim?

Underfloor heating and comfort cooling does not easily fit into the available SBEM / NCM systems. Perhaps instead of trying a split system led type you could try a 'Constant Volume System' ventilation led type.

This way in ApSystems you can put in the boiler as ...

Re: Storey Name

Hi
I'm not sure if I've understood your question, but could you use the "Create and Edit Space Groups" for this?
I usually create a group for each floor level, you can name this whatever you like and then assign spaces on a floor by floor basis, this then makes it quite easy to assign services on a ...

Re: OSM Download Error

My OSM Maps has stopped working a few times over the last couple of years, I presume this is because when the software updates to a new version, the fix IESFix.exe needs to be run each time?

Re: Local Extract SFP not reported correctly BRUKL 2013

Hi all

I have an issue with local mechanical ventilation reporting on the 2013 brukl in which MVHR (Mitsi Elec Lossnay) identical systems are reported in column B for "Zonal Supply system where fan is remote from zone" and also column D for "Zonal supply and extract ventilation units serving a ...

Re: Supply air heating - ApacheSim or Apache HVAC?

Hi David & Ross

I wonder whether you could simplify the thermal model and just analyse the situation at room level in Apache Sim.

1. Set up the ventilation supply flowrate as an air exchange using external air (in template manager)
2. Apply a heating system to the room (in Apache Systems)
3 ...

Re: Infiltration rate in ACH

Hi

I realise this was posted a while ago, but thought I'd add to it as I'd be interested to see what method everyone uses.

I usually use the tables given in CIBSE Guide A Section 4.6 which are based on empirical values for air infiltration rate. These give a relatively good idea of the ...

External Shading Device CBD

Hi all

I'm working on a thermal model of a building with a brise-soleil and would like to determine the effects on solar gains.

My first question is how would you typically model this?

I'm inclined to use the CBD by filling in the External Shading Device [louvre]. I presume I could model this by ...
