Re: MVHR - Part 0 - Apache HVAC

Hi Terence

I was in that Webinar and it was suggested that using ApacheHVAC was more accurate.

I've been trying to create an MVHR in ApacheHVAC - but getting the controls right is proving tricky - particularly the correct control of the heat exchanger to allow for the summer bypass damper opening ...

Re: How to Model External Shading Devices on Windows

Hi

Two ways of doing this.

Firstly you can draw louvres explicitly as 'local shading'. These objects are green and will cast shadows if SunCast is run. Fiddly - but looks cool.

Secondly they can be defined implicitly in the window construction properties via the dialogue you have posted. This can ...

Re: IESVE beginner trying to model flat roof

Hi

The exposed top surface of all rooms are flat roofs by default in IES, and are automatically given the default roof properties. No need to to add another space on top unless you want to explicitly model a roof void, (NB a roof cavity can be modelled implicitly in the construction properties ...

Re: Drawing Winter Gardens for TM59

Hi

My view would be to model the room as a room like any other room i.e. heated (although of course the heating will be off). It should have the fabric properties as designed, as should the rooms within (as you describe). But I would model its opening window(s) as always open from May to September ...

Radiators via a PHX on a primary water loop?

Hi

Does anyone know how to model radiators in a room zone served from a PHX on a primary loop (which represents a heat network)?

Can't seem to be able to do this (although this is a built-in dialogue for DHW).

Any ideas?

Cheers

Re: CHP in IES ApacheSim Compliance

All

Has IES ever given a view on the 'correctness' of the (second) method proposed by CP?

I ask this because it matters if the proposed method is used when issuing a BRUKL, and more significantly, when lodging an EPC.

This issue has arisen on a project where the Stage 3 designers have used CPs ...

Re: Infiltration rate in ACH

All

The BSRIA guide for calculating heating loads refers to the use of the TM 23 value. It is usually a small value when expressed as ach, less than 0.1.

You can actually find this value calculated for you as ach in the Building Details tab of the Set Building & System Data in the SBEM/DSM module ...

How to model openings with 100 mm restrictions?

Hi All

When modelling window openings for CIBSE TM 52 and 59 thermal comfort analysis it is typically the case that windows above GF in UK will have a restricted opening of 100 mm.

And this often equates to opening angles below 10 deg. Which means that the MacroFlo opening templates cannot be used ...
