Re: Energy efficient LPD

Hi, I have found this site to be helpful at times with some questions about modelling already presented: <http://energy-models.com/forum/dwelling-unit-residential-lpds>
I have yet to find anything within ashrae that defines it since residential can vary so much. If you have to justify it then I ...

Re: Backup Folder

yes, that would be correct. however, I have found at times upgrading the model can occur in compounding errors with existing data population assignments from the previous model version so you have to run the model report after converting to check and see the data assignments and then try to run a ...

daki,
That delay is possibly because you are a new user and they are attempting to avoid spam most likely. Anyway, an idea I had that they could potentially use to encourage users is by rewarding content with a credit system. It could be users voting up or down if they find a topic or query valuable ...

Re: beginning to wonder how other people cope with Model-IT

Sorry to hear it is frustrating you so much. I am still relatively new to it (only 1 yr exp) compared to you but I have found it easiest to just keep the drawing simple and using grid settings between 2"-4". Using the DXF overlays I draw the rooms and typically will not partition spaces unless it ...

Re: How to deduce the energy demands for a modeled residence

Hi George,
First question is what is your HVAC methodology set to, ApHVAC or ApSys? (find under settings tab)
ApHVAC is a little more robust and hands on, allowing a lot of customization, compared to the ApSys. The methodology must be set before creating the model unfortunately so it depends on what ...

Community Involvement

Due to lack of community involvement on these forums compared to the competitors out there I believe it could be useful if you were to provide a monthly newsletter to give information on known errors, user requests, case studies, updates, user explanations. Or a LNL type forum for discussion of ...

Re: Lighting values for Apache EPC calc

Hey JM2000, I am not familiar with using NCM templates but I typically modify the lighting gains using the apache module -> tabular space data -> internal gains. Switch the gain input mode from template to either W/ft^2 or Btu/h. Select all similar spaces and then update the gain and it will modify ...

Radiant floor slab heating

Does anyone know how to model a system involving this method?

Project I am working on is an existing building with a level in which the perimeter zone extends out from the level below. The concrete slab has electric heat tracing cable embedded in this area to avoid thermal loss through the slab ...

Re: Unmet hours in Corridors

One way I have settled unmet hours for corridors is by assigning the set points to a larger band(ie 60-80) since thermal comfort is not as important. Still a lot of things that could affect it, so you would want to check a specific room for 1 specific day and diagnose through the HVAC system ...

Re: HVAC Methodology - change from ApSys to ApHVAC

hey man,
If you use the tabular BTM then you can select thermal conditions group if its not default -> go to system tab -> select all templates you want to change -> use drop down to change hvac methodology all at once
If that doesnt work, you could try exporting the data to a text file, then use ...
