Hi,
Can I export a DWG file from VE-Pro?
I don't think so (unless I'm not looking hard enough)
thanks

determining room air velocity gradients
Hi,
Can anyone recommended way to determine internal air velocity gradients inside a room.
This is a common requirement in building design (usually <0.3 m/sec) for occupant comfort.
I can only think of using Microflo but even this is unrealistic - what do I do if I use the System Air supply to ...

determining room temperature gradients
Hi,
Is there any simple way to determine the (vertical) temperature gradient in a room?
It seems to me that the only way to do it is to run Microflo and look at a filled temp contour at the floor and ceiling?
This is a fairly common requirement for building design but I camn't find any hints in ...

Re: usgin external window louvres in Radiance as well as Apache
Hi,
I find it annoying that the Radiance documentation does not explain how to convert glazing transmittances from the construction database into a form that is usable as a surface property in Radiance. This is a fundatmental part of any building design or investigation and while I can understand ...

Re: usgin external window louvres in Radiance as well as Apache
yup, I know I can add some external shades in ModelIT but if I have a bunch of windows I;ll have lots of physical modelling to do if I want to vary the amount of shading to each to optimizethe model. It's a lot easier to use th econstructions database through which I can vary an external shade (eg ...

Re: usgin external window louvres in Radiance as well as Apache
Hah! That's funny (and odd too).
Anyway, I think I have a solution.
There is a linear relationship between the solar gain and sky and ground diffuse transmission factors. The closer the latter are to 1, the higher the room's solar gain.
Ergo, I think I can use the window's Shading Coefficient and ...

usgin external window louvres in Radiance as well as Apache
Hi,
I have a room. It's too hot and too bright. I go into the constructions database to modify the glazing and I add a louvre and set it to shade the window (eg I set the transmission factors for all angles to say 0.3).
I run apache .... my room is now much cooler ... great!

Re: how do I construct a glazed door?
Hi,
Thanks for the reply. I ended up using a window instead of a door and I made the window unopenable which I think is correct for the thermal analysis.
thanks
Norman

how do I construct a glazed door?
Hi,
How do I construct a glazed door? I can't make a wooden door then put windows in it, that doesn't work.
Do I just use a big window instead of a wooden door?
thanks
Norman

WP Image for odd shaped room?
Hi,
I have an L-shaped room for which I can get WP images just fine. However, although when I select this option the box (dotted lines) lies clearly within the room as it should, the image is rectangular, not L-shaped and shows a blaze of light in the corner that is actually outside the room. The ...
