exporting a weather file?

Hi

Does anyone know if it's possible to export the a weather file in a format other than a .fwt file?
I need to get it out as ASCII text with CSV.
I am trying to compare results with a TRNSYS model to try to work out some anomalies and the weather file is the most obvious issue at the moment,
Any ...

surface data

Hi
Can anyone tell me the trick to getting data on surfaces in Vista or VIsta pro? The results page says "no data to display". Is there a setting I need to check or is this data typically in the standard apache simulation?
Sorry if this question is answered in a manual somewhere. I have looked but ...

Re: what is the maximum file size?

Hi Phil
I have had some success eventually.
I ended up modeling the trees as 2 circular planes intersecting at right angles. For the transparency I ended up putting holes in the planes so you would still get a similar diffuse lighting. As a test I modeled identical size trees without the cutouts as ...

Re: what is the maximum file size?

Thanks for the replies.
Can you suggest an alternative means of simulating the difference between varied tree canopy density? I thought there would be a way to assign transmittance values to 2D shading planes but I have not had much success here.
I modeled a 2D surface with holes cut out to simulate ...

what is the maximum file size?

Hi
I am attempting to test thermal loading reduction due to tree shade and need to compare the difference between a detailed tree with a simple sphere. I know it's probably rediculous but my file size is 54MB. Just opening the file takes about 30 minutes. I expect to leave it running for days or ...

Re: internal solar penetration

Hi Georger
I don't think there is a way to see internal shading in anything other than radiance?
Sketchup would be a lot easier than ies when study internal shading. That would be my suggestion.
Regarding the glazing, I am waiting for someone to reply to a similar question about editting ...

Re: edit shading transmittance?

just adding to the previous message...
I found a post on modelling trees but this is not the solution for me. I have collected tree data which includes three height, canopy size and transmittance. I have modelled the trees as 2 x 2D planes intersecting at right angles and hoped to just add a ...

Re: Putting natural ventilation into a building

Hi John
I am new to IES and am not an engineer so my experience may me of little use? BUt i recently modelled a central atrium in a 7 storey building attempting to do a similar thing. To simplify things I just looked at the ground floor and atrium in isolation and got some reasonable results. I had ...

edit shading transmittance?

Hi
Does anyone here know how to give local shade objects an opacity?
I am doing a simulation on the effect of tree shade on thermal loading of buildings and need to edit the transmittance of my 'trees' to less than 0%.
I have treid modelling trees in sketchup as components and given them different ...
