trying to reconcile BRUKL with Vistapro
Hi
I am trying to reconcile the various data that appears on BRUKL with the results in vistapro. It seems like an impossible task.
Taking just one example:
From BRUKL table, actual building heating consumption= 3.9 kWh/m2. The BRUKL reported floor area is 5349.7sqm so this is 20.86 MWh/yr.
Yet the ...

Model-IT produced intersection errors for previously OK model
I have a model which was created in 2017. When I import it into the current version of VE and run a model check it produces an error free model report. The same is true when I rebuild adjacencies and re-check.
When I make a geometry change on this model (partitioning a room on the basement level ...

Re: beginning to wonder how other people cope with Model-IT
Often these errors aren't even apparent at the time you run a model-check but only come to light later on when you make geometry changes elsewhere (even in a completely different part of the model). The only way to be "Safe" is to run "rebuild adjacencies" before every model check - and to do all ...

beginning to wonder how other people cope with Model-IT
Yet again today have wasted ages trying to partition a room, each time getting intersection errors, unbound surfaces, etc.
Have also had to give up trying to put dormers onto a pitched roof for the same reason (even though I followed the guidance from IES on this).
IES admit that the partition tool ...

A typical day in the office - I give up!!
Multiple crashes, endless adjacency errors (which only crop up following a "rebuild adjacencies").
Net result - reached the point of a nervous breakdown and hours wasted trying to draw 9 bloody dormers !!
I'm done.
I give in.
IES you've won!

What to do when VE crashes
When VE crashes- and as all users know, this is pretty common - this is what you need to do:
TELL IES ABOUT IT
It seems obvious but the developers are only going to start taking this problem seriously once they understand how much of a problem it is, and how much it annoys their paying customers ...

you need to do this following every single geometry action
I have discovered that the only way to be sure of safely building something in model-it, is to do this after *every single* geometry operation. Yes, it is time-consuming, but the alternative is to lose your work and/or have geometry errors later on which can take hours to fix and involve rebuilding ...

Re: 2nd crash of the morning
It's even worse - each time it crashes (which is often), the VE re-opens with the grid settings set back to default. Unbelievable.

2nd crash of the morning
This is pretty unacceptable. 2nd crash of the morning, this time whilst drawing an object. Preceded by the error message “A resource needed was not available”, or similar. Honestly, I expect better than this. Why on earth doesn't the VE report back automatically to IES each time it crashes, then we ...
