Re: Mechanical Ventilation Systems with Trim Cooling

Hi,

I know this thread is ancient but I find this problem comes up regularly and trying to explain it to clients can be frustrating.

I wonder if selecting a "mixed mode" operation would suit? this would give a small cooling load and only during the Summer months but not excessive amounts so that ...

Re: Criterion 2 U-value error

Hi Zap/Phil,

Thanks for the advice, unfortunately, it's not actually a geometry error. There are no intersections or anything similar that are preventing any simulations from running. The problem is that when I try to assign a construction to a surface, the construction will not assign. I thought ...

Chillers Load calculation in IES?

Hi,

Brief query about the assessing the cooling load.

I've run a sim with a a mech. vent. system using a constant temp. profile of 19oC for the air supplied, rather than changing the system to "air-conditioned". That's all fine no problem.howver, when it comes to checking the loads, the systems ...

Criterion 2 U-value error

Hi all,

I have an error ocurring when trying to run a part l compliance check telling me that 0.02m^2 area of a floor construction is failing the maximum U-value. However, when I locate the room and the construction and try to assign it as something different (i.e. with a lower U-value), the ...

Re: Merging spaces vertically? or connect with holes?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the information. I found that when running Part L calcs it makes a difference on Criterion 3 checks as it doesn't seem to consider the "connected" spaces as one whole space giving two different benchmarks and in my case, the upper area failed by 850% whilst the lower area ...

Re: Merging spaces vertically? or connect with holes?

Hi Phil,

Sorry, I was just reading the post back and when I say join "with a hole", I mean joining them using the "connect spaces" tool, "remove partitions", and then pressing "Connect".

Will that give different results when running simulations than if choose "merge"?

Cheers,

C

Merging spaces vertically? or connect with holes?

Hi,

Quick query about merging spaces to make them a double storey height.

Sometimes when two spaces stacked vertically are "merged", all sorts of intersection errors occur. If they are joined with a hole there are no errors. Is there any difference in how the building will perform when these two ...

Re: Radiant heat fraction for Under floor heating

Fantastic Phil, just what I needed. I was almost certain I could recall my Uni lecturer telling me to put in 0.5 for underfloor heating, obviously I should trust my memeory a bit more :D

Thanks for that,

Colin
