Hi all,
I am modelling a convention hall with AHU units for heating and cooling using ApacheHVAC. We also have natural ventilation for cooling.
To save energy, the priority is to have only natural ventilation (AHUs are OFF) as long as the comfort temperature is reached (Ta<24°C).
When this ...

Modeling solar reflection on building facade
Hello,
For a project in Paris, our client wants to know if we could estimate the impact of the future building on the surrounding buildings.
The shape of the building is very specific and we are afraid of similar consequences that happened in London with 20 Fenchurch Street (concentration of solar ...

Problem with update IES VE 2016
Hi all,
I dowloaded the updated version of IES VE 2016.0.0.0.
I converted an IES VE 2015 project to the new version.
A problem that is rather annoying occured: the profiles have been converted but all the values have been reset to 0.
I had to redo all my profiles in order to run a simulation.

"Ground Ambient not calculated"
Hi all,
I came across a problem using RadianceIES for Daylight simulations.
I need to calculate the Daylight factors on a working plane in 1 zone. As sky conditions, I use Standard CIE overcast sky in "Sky/Eye" tab. Then I run the simulation with "Illuminance - working plane" activated. Usually ...

Daylight control and automatic shading devices?
Hi all,
In order to implement a daylight control system in an ApacheSim, we need to run a simulation using sensors in Radiance.
The Radiance simulation calculates the illuminance sensed in each room for every hour of the year (approx). I assume it doesn't take into account any shading devices.
My ...

FlucsDL - Outside reflectance of an exposed floor
Hi all,
I'm using FlucsDL for a daylighting analysis on a project to assess the impact of a 5m long overhang on a facade. In fact, the 2nd floor of the building is wider than the 1st floor, meaning that the 2nd floor represents the overhang for the 1st floor's facade.
The idea for the project ...

Error when starting ApacheSim (Dynamic Simulation)!
Hi all,
With a specific VE file, I have an error message poping up every time I start the simulation (ApacheSim):
ProcessSimulation::ps_loadComponentDB - error [/i]
Of course, I have no idea what it means. Although the simulation is still running and the results seem consistent, I still would ...

Modelling water evaporation from a pool
Hi all,
Currently working on a waterpark with VE, I would like to model the evaporation from the indoor pools in order to assess properly the impact on relative humidity and dehumidification energy consumption.
I have calculated the amount of water evaporated (function of inside temperature, water ...
