Bivalent system with different fuels
Hi All.
I am trying to determine the best way to model a Central AHU with terminal reheat.
The AHU will have heat recovery and a DX condensing (electric) unit providing heating and cooling. This will provide an air supply to each space at a constant volume but the temperature will be varied ...

DHW Delivery Efficiency
I have a question regarding Direct Hot Water Delivery Efficiency.
In the IES software, the DHW delivery efficiency can be input in 2 ways.
1. Add storage volume, Storage Losses, Loop length, w/m loss and pump power etc and set delivery efficient to 1.
2. Calculate the DHW delivery efficiency.
Can ...

Lighting controls and heat recovery
A few questions regarding inputting data for Part L compliance.
1. photoelectric dimming can be applied in the Display Lighting and Controls Tab in tabular room data, but dimming can also be applied in internal gains tab (as long a a suitable dimming profile is applied). Say I used Radiance and ...

Re: Heat Loss Calculations
Thanks again for the reply.
I totally agree. The engineers within our company carry out all thermal modeling, we are very skeptical about the results which is why I started this post. We have had the training but this was clearly geared towards modellers, I could have kept everyone behind for a few ...

Re: Heat Loss Calculations
Thanks very much for the reply.
So in a nutshell we should be using the CIBSE steady state method which is what we have found to be more accurate anyway.
I know how the calculation is carried out or should I say IES have already told me that the steady state method is in line with the approved ...

Heat Loss Calculations
I would like some feedback from my fellow IES users with regards to heat loss calculations.
Basically we have tried several scenarios and profiles to get accurate heat losses and its all a bit hit and miss. I will highlight a few examples below.
1. Steady state heat losses using CIBSE Load.
We ...
