Construction template

Post by KaRo »

Board prevented me from searching for these terms as they are supposedly too general, so my apologies in case this has already been answered.
I would like to delete a construction template that I regard as surplus to requirements, yet I get the error: "This Template is active (zones assigned to Template). Template not removed."
How can I assign a zone to a construction template, and in case this is possible: how do I find out which zone is assigned to the template I regard as superfluous?

Cheers

Hi,

This is a bit of a grey area and I wouldn't really advise to use Construction Templates much as they can't be assigned in the usual way that a Thermal Template can be.

How it works:
You create Construction template
As you draw rooms you choose the Construction template on Shape Settings and the room drawn use these Constructions

but
if you then edit the template after drawing the rooms they won't be updated to reflect this

Anyway back to your query - there is no way to see what rooms used that Construction template and there is no way to assign another Construction template to those rooms so the only way to remove the template would be to delete any rooms that had been drawn referencing it. In short - you'll just have to live with an extra Construction template in your project and put this down as experience.

One day we'll spruce up the other templates again so they are more useful in the way they were originally intended but this is not a priority in the foreseeable future so I'd stay clear unless you find it really useful (Assign Constructions is a pretty good feature in itself I'd say)

Assign Constructions is available on the toolbar of most VE applications, you use this to update the Constructions assigned to a room(s)

An old thread but I recently ran into the same problem. I found that if I deleted the entire model I could then delete the offending Template and finally 'Undo delete objects(s)' which restored the model minus any templates I removed in the 'Building Template Manager'.
