Best Practice

Copied below are our best practice tips for working on projects with the Virtual Environment, please try and follow these whenever you can.

We really can't stress enough the importance of creating backups using the CAB archive facility found in the software.

a) Keep a CAB archive (use File>Archive>Current Project to create CAB files) on the network server but...
b) Work on a copy on your Local C: drive for added security (eg. C:\VE Projects).
c) Do not move/copy project folders. Only move CAB archives
d) Store a GEM file so that the pure-geometry is available at any point.
e) Make regular CAB archives so you can always revert to another version of the project (or restore a corrupt project).
f) If trying variants or options use Save Project As to generate a new project – don’t just change what you have already as you can’t ‘revert’ without restoring from CAB (which is fine but means you have to do so for each variant).
g) Always use File>Open and select the project .mit to open the project
