Huge BER in Apache but not in SBEM

Post by swilson »

I have inherited a model which has the ceiling void modeled as separate spaces as internal voids.

I originally ran the model under SBEM and have a BER of 22.8

As the model has atria and is rather complex APache is required

Running exactly the same model in apachesim i have a BER of 180ish. (excusively caused by an increase in the heating demand)

Since then, I have done some sleuthing and tried taking out aux ventilation encase it had been duplicated and got the BER down to 150. ( I suspect this is not the issue)

Further investigation led me to the conclusion that it is related to the internal voids.

Before I go ahead and spend time merging rooms and changing inner volume representation and ceiling void cavity size.

Has anybody else experienced an issue like this and I am missing something blindingly obvious?

If anyone is interested or this may help in the future.

It turned out that macroflo was the culprit. the window opening was set to 21°C and the heating setpoint was 22°C.

So basically the heating was fighting with opening windows and struggling to ever make it up to 22°C.
