I have run my simulation and after i go under MircoFlo Viewer and check the box for Velocity key, it only shows me the spectrum of different colour labelling but does not provide any labelling of the value for each colour.
Anyone knows how can i adjust the setting such that it will reflect the temperature?
In addition, if i wants to obtain the temperature at certain point in the model, anyway i can obtain the exact result instead of clicking on the various numbers under the X-Grid
**My model is based on the tutorial model provided**
Missing information under "Velocity Key" of Mircoflo
Re: Missing information under "Velocity Key" of Mircoflo
After selecting velocity key, you will also have to select what kind of display you want in the next box. Your options are a velocity vector plot, line contours of filled contours of velocity.
To obtain temperature at a certain point, you will have to set up a cell monitor point at the location before you run the simulation in the MicroFlo run window. After the simulation is done, you can open up the file from the <project>/cfd/cell folder and look at the last value for the temperature you are looking for.

Re: Missing information under "Velocity Key" of Mircoflo
Hi harshadj,
just to check on the following:
1) i selected velocity key and filled contour of velocity but it doesnt show the labelling of the colour coding at the velocity key although the model has a different contour colours. I seen the tutorial guide (PDF) and the picture does indicate the temperature for each colour coding.
2) Anyways i can generate a report for the mircoflo simulation?
3) If i want to identify the range of temperature in the model instead of at a particular point? how should i go about doing it?
4) If i drew additional rooms on top of the model as provided in the tutorial model example to investigate the temperature distribution in these additional rooms, what settings should i put for these rooms under suncast? (invisible or opaque). My aim is to treat these "rooms" as fluid such that it acts as a boundary area for me to get the temperature distribution there.

1) You are right, it should show the labelling under the colour scale. Did the simulation diverge i.e. the residuals suddenly fell to zero value within one iteration? If so, then the results are incorrect and you need to review your grid and re-simulate. In case not, then run the simulation for a few iterations more and re check the results. Also, how many iterations have you run the simulation? typically it will need more than 1000 iterations before solution converges.tkc wrote:Hi harshadj,

2) There is no automated report for MicroFlo simulation. You will have to manually save the slices or create videos and interpret the results to produce the report.
3) You can edit the scale in the settings of the MicroFlo viewer. You can use that to highlight a particular temperature range.
4) I don't understand your question completely. Can you please elaborate further?

Re: Missing information under "Velocity Key" of Mircoflo
hi harshadj,
1) I tried it a few times using the model as given in the tutorial solution. I ran it for 500 iterations as stated in the tutorial example guide. The solution do converge but it doesn't show any labelling below the temperature key which I have no idea why is it so. Any other settings I can do to solve this issue?
2 & 3 ) If I am looking for the range (min to max) values within the room itself, how should I go about obtaining it? The temperature of the room after the simulation. I don't mean finding the point in the room with the temperature that I am looking for.
4) I solved this. I have to set it as transparent.
To add on. My model consists of different rooms. However when I tried to group them together as what is stated in the user guide, it does not really works. Basically I used the tutorial model example and added additional 2 rooms above the model. When I reached the Mircoflo stage simulation result, it only reflects the tutorial model ONLY and does not show the 2 rooms which I added in during the simulation. It is due to me setting the rooms which I added as transparent and hence it will not be reflected in mircoflo?

1) Are you getting the numbers below the scale for other variables like velocity, pressure etc? If yes, then also check if you have selected the checkbox for Isothermal on the MicroFlo Monitor window. If yes to this as well, then the solution is right here. Since it is isothermal, the energy equation is not being solved and you will not have any recorded output for temperature.
2) typically MicroFlo viewer selects the range automatically and you can note these values. Sometimes it may happen that you have assigned a really high heat flux boundary which can cause it show high extreme values. Change the scale in viewer settings to see the realistic range.
4)To do a combined simulation in MicroFlo with imported boundary conditions, first step is to ensure the MicroFlo outputs are being recorded for those rooms. You will need to select these rooms in the ApacheSim output settings and ensure the appropriate MicroFlo output setting is selected. The second step is to create a multizone space is created in MicroFlo. Select a room which is connected to a lot of zones as your parent zone. Ensure that the rooms are connected to each other via holes. combined sim works only when the rooms are connected by holes. MicroFlo interprets doors and windows as walls only. The third step is to create multizone space partitions. This sort of creates and assigns interface between the connected spaces. The last step is to import boundary data for the parent zone. the boundary data for other connected zones is imported automatically. You will have flow balance error if you import first and connect later.
If you have added the rooms after running one sim. You will have to ensure that you clear the boundary data, destroy the partitions and destroy multi-zone space and then redo the steps outlined above.

Re: Missing information under "Velocity Key" of Mircoflo
Hi harshadj,
I tried to simulate the model again but there is still missing information for the temperature key in mircoflo.
I ran 1000 iterations and the "m-value" does not converge, while all others will tend to converge. In addition, is there anyways to show numerical figures on the CFD of IES. Like clicking on an area that will reflect the temperature on the spot instead of going under the x,y,z scale.
In addition, after I simulate my model, how do i reflect the air temperature in the whole model?
Do I check every box at the x,y,z scale + checking the box on temperature key, temperature contour, filled temperature contour? Or can I click the surface temperature icon at the top, beside the display option. Which will give a better accuracy for my result?

Re: Missing information under "Velocity Key" of Mircoflo
Just to add on, if I did not "import opening flow" in CFD, how does it affect my results?
Whenever I import the opening flow, there will always be a flow imbalance.
I am trying to find air temperature and surface temperature modeeling in mircoflo
