Sectioning of wall

Post by eugenetheawesome »

Hi all,

I am doing an investigation on the radiation reflected between the exterior surface of two buildings. I would like to find out the radiation incident on the different parts of the exterior of the building. I was wondering how I could section the outer wall into many different parts (ie 9 parts) so I could find out the radiation incident at the middle and top right corner of the building surface.

Please kindly assist. Thank you! :)

You can do this by using the partition tool and also by performing cuts using 'Divide space' in Edit mode. The ModelIT user guide looks at both of these. Either way you want the cut to remain a part of the space so don't select create new separate space and select divide without partitions.

After using both of these tools the wall is split into different sections and you will be able to assign different constructions to each.

Hi Terence, thanks for your reply.

I have used the sectioning using divide space in edit mode. However, when I ran the simulation to investigate the radiation reflected between the 2 buidlings (with an air gap in the middle), it gave me similar results for all 9 sections. I would like to find the radiation incident on individual sections of the building, is it possible to achieve this with this software? If possible should I model it in another way?

This is how I did the sectioning of the building.
