data centre CRAC units

Post by akraw »

i have a project with lot of data centre rooms which are unoccupied and treated by CRAC units for temperature control, this is in cibse view a 'process load' discounted in part L. when i assign this however to a 'misc 24 hr data centre' template (with 'none' as hvac system) this gets the room 'heated' due to the fact that massive heat gains exist nonetheless. this in turn gives massive cooling demands to other rooms and affects the overall score very unfavourable and out-of-step with what the real-world scenario would be (room temps of 100-deg!).

If i assign these rooms with a template 'cupboard' and system as 'none' then the result is much more like it with the internal temps being reasonable as 25-ish max.the cooling demand overall is much lower as well and heating has increased slightly due to these rooms not heating the majority of the building.

ever had that situation and would you say my way round is would be correct?
best regards
andy
