Pump curve in diferent pump system

Post by lutinfr »

Hi,

I'm doing making pump curves for a system with 3 identical chillers, they use the same 3 pumps for the chilled water loop. There is no issue with only 1 place for all 3 pumps to input the performance curve in VE. I suddenly thought about a system that has 2 big chillers and 1 small chiller, it will have 2 different pump curves, how do I model this system with only 1 place to input 1 pump performance curve in VE ?

Thank you for any advise

In the CHW loop dialog, go to 'Primary Loop'; hit the dropdown menu from 'Single Pump' to 'Dedicated Chiller Pumps'.

This will allow you access to three unique pumps. So long as you have sequenced the chillers correctly, the pumps should engage more sequentially.

There's a XLS for editing Pump coefficients here:

Thank you for the answer,

However, I cannot input 3 separated curves in VE, 3 pumps refer to only one curve. When changing curve for 2nd pumps, all 3 pumps use the new curve.

No prob.

I'm unsure if this behaviour is 'by-design' or not. My guess is not so we have some investigation to do. In the meantime, I suggest using the additional pump 'meters' to help track your energy and run multiple sims with the different pumps. Then manually export the energy data in VistaPro. It's a few more steps I know, so sorry about that.

Thank you Liam, this is what I'm thinking of.
Question again : do you have any tool or guide for pump, sometime I see that Cnorm might bring a confusion (cnorm has a very short intruction in curve editing).
