Error reading shading file

I am currently modelling a school in which i need to run various scenarios e.g. new windows/upgraded heating system etc. To do this I need to save each model under a different filename so I can go back to previous iterations with ease.

The initial model ran with no problems:

so before I make an iteration i save as and rename the file.

As soon as I try to run the simulation I get the error message

"error reading shading file"

I have tried updating the shading file only to get the same message.

As the geometry was working fine previously and has not been changed, so I can only assume the geometry is not the issue.

(Note that when I try running a simulation without suncast I get an access violation message)

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

( i notice there is a post in the suncast section titled error reading shading file) however their issue appears to be different.
