HVAC Tips anyone

How can you check how your supply and extract air temps etc are doing. I cant see how this is done in Vista. Plus bypass dampers. How can you check their operation to see if your controllers are correct?

Any tips greatly appreciated.

Figured it. Shove a room after it and check room apHVAC air supply. Im using a spare room thats unserved with no gains or nowt. (cupboard)

Be nice if you could put probes in the system to monitor whats going on.

Actually, you can interrogate the HVAC network itself in detail from within Vista. You need to ensure that it's included on the output options before you run the model but then it's just a case of selecting the system from the drop down list on the left.

I have all those ticked but what I want is the ability to be able to put a probe into a duct and see how the flow rate and the temps modulate directly after the controllers. This way I can analyse what control Ive added to make sure I have done it correctly. Currently I am just using untreated spaces inserted after the control point and then using the apHVAC Air supply and room air temps to infer it.

I am new to HVAC and although I sat the e-training it was some time ago and I hadnt used it since. Thus I am kind of teaching myself HVAC. Which is not ideal. The guide is useful to a degree but I would like to see more examples of control for different elements within it. There are some and these are very useful as i can infer from them whats going on and then apply the same principles. Examples are mightily handy things to have and the more the better.

Same on the waterside. Put binder functionality in to allow analysis. I am mad on binders and I shove them everywhere as when there is an issue on site they are a godsend and my binder obsession is justified. I learnt this the hard way when I didnt put some in a critical position and we had issues with a chiller.

On the whole though HVAC is fun. I intend to increasingly utilise this facility.

If you have the appropriate Output Options ticked, there's no need to use untreated spaces. When in VistaPro, change your browser pull-down menu from "Rooms" to "HVAC Network". You'll see your ApHVAC file in the display window with node numbers on the network. You can click on any of those nodes and see air temperature & volume flow (as well as mass flow, moisture content, relative humidity, CO2 concentration & wetbulb temperature). If you click on individual components, you'll see many more variables, depending on the component.

Currently, there aren't nodes on the waterside, but you can get a ton of information by selecting the various components (including water loop temperatures).

You're smashing you are. Thanks. :D

I feel a bit of a tit though. Never noticed that I could change room to the hvac network.
