Help - Adiabatic Walls of Mid-Terrace

Post by ojd7 »

I am modelling a domestic house, a mid-terraced house, and I want to model it as that the border walls with other houses neither gain nor lose heat, can anyone help out with this?

Hi,

To get a no heat transfer adjacency in the VE then you would model the adjacent room as an adjacent building type or on an inactive layer.

This would set the space to be inactive in simulation and also the adjacency where it meets any active thermal spaces is treated as no heat transfer as required. I guess in your model you actually want to simulate the two dwellings as thermally active but control the adjacency which is not so easy (remember they would balance if both are being conditioned at the same temperature anyway) but one idea might be to put some small void spaces between them which are inactive
