The Weather File Thread

Post by Terence »

Hey everyone,

I hope you're all doing well! I wanted to provide some important information regarding the location of weather files for Virtual Environment (VE) software. This change is applicable starting from VE 2022, so please take note if you're using the newer versions.

Up to and including VE 2021 the weather files were saved to:

C:\Program Files (x86)\IES\Shared Content\Weather

With VE 2022 and subsequent versions, there has been a change due to the software now being 64-bit. The new directory for weather files is:

C:\Program Files\IES\Shared Content\Weather

Please make sure to update your configurations accordingly to ensure seamless operation of the software:

1. Check the Weather File Location:

If you're using VE 2022 or a later version, ensure that your weather files are stored in the directory mentioned above.

2. Adjust Software Settings:

It's crucial to configure the software to look in the correct location for standard data and weather files. To do this, follow these steps:

Open the VE software.

Navigate to Help > Troubleshooting > Set Standard Data and Weather Location.

Ensure that you're pointing to the following directory: C:\Program Files\IES\Shared Content

Please note that pointing to the "Weather" folder found inside "Shared Content" is one folder too deep and should be avoided.

By following these steps, you'll make sure that your VE software is correctly configured for VE 2022 and beyond, and you'll have access to the necessary weather files without any issues.
