MVHR - Part 0 - Apache HVAC

Post by RossMalcolm »

Hi all,

For the purpose of the Part O: Overheating calculations, MVHR systems must be entered via the APACHE HVAC method.

Any tips to inputting this data for a simple / typical residential application?

Hi Ross,

You are not restricted to Apache HVAC for modelling MVHR for Part O assessments. We recently had a webinar where this was covered and you can watch this on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/DrZIawltf4c?si=n92nJLl1YymF-HI5&t=1463 (starts at the MVHR area).

Hi Terence

I was in that Webinar and it was suggested that using ApacheHVAC was more accurate.

I've been trying to create an MVHR in ApacheHVAC - but getting the controls right is proving tricky - particularly the correct control of the heat exchanger to allow for the summer bypass damper opening/closing.

Would it therefore be possible to either provide copy of the example MVHR shown in the webinar or add it (or generic version of it) to the HVAC library?

I also need to model a variant with lop-cooling - has anyone done this?
