ASHRAE 90.1 2010 - modeling Lighting Controls as per Section 9.4.1 for the proposed building

Post by David_S »

Hi All!

How do you approach modeling Lighting Controls as per Section 9.4.1 in the proposed building? Using the IES PRM Navigator, baseline gets lighting mandatory requirements assigned automatically (verified with IES technical support). For the proposed case, there is no way to assign these simply via the navigator and it is necessary to create & add variation and dimming profiles separately.

Questions:
1/ how do you decide which type of control is being modeled for which space? (i.e. do you go through every space in the model and verify what is needed on a case by case basis)?

2/ How do you translate this into the actual model? (i.e. creating variation & dimming profiles for each required case? What if a combination of more measures is required - combined profile?).

Surely, there must be a way how to approach this in a more effective and time efficient manner.

Thanks for sharing any experience/advice/thoughts/ideas on your typical workflow.

David
