room creating with ModelIT

Post by Giov »

Hello,

I have installed Iesve in another pc, but the model I had is not working correctly...there are geometrical issues I have to fix.
Since in Ve is not possible to modify or delete a surface (extremely complicated and time consuming issue) I need to redraw 3 rooms in order to solve problems with "too small surfaces".
The question is: "why is not possible to draw a room by keeping the axonometric view?" When I switch to "plan view" it seems impossible to create a room without overlapping the existing geometry.
Furthermore, after creating a new room, why it is defined as external space although it is between 2 existing internal rooms?

thanks

you can't draw in in axonometric few things to check:

what level you are building the room on is it on a floor above by mistake,

what are your lock settings (snap to model endpoint/grid/dxf etc)?

what you can do is accept the room even with intersections do a model check and find out which surface is intersecting.

it may be that the space adjacent is the issue and you may need to rebuild that.

if a wall spans 2 rooms it may be wise to snap to every point and not just go straight to the corner of the room you are building

hope that helps good luck

Hi Jerry,

I tend not to run into these things but have seen them on occasion - is stepping back 1m or so and cutting the facade then extruding back out not an option?
The only time I've seen inside/outside problems (and this is years ago now) was when I had gaps or rooms intersecting into one another (generally at a macroscopic level).

After going back and forth with issues like this I usually do a combination of separating spaces and combining spaces to get the shape I need. Just using the "separate with partitions" button and then connecting spaces, or to fill a void drawing a prism or other shape within and merging with adjacent spaces. Sometimes there will be a little line or spline left over if it isn't done 'perfectly' which can be annoying, but isn't a huge deal.
