radiator

Post by Estelle_Martin »

Hello,

I have some questions regarding the functioning of the software VE.

To describe a radiator, you have to select an orientation which is used in determining the variation of the convective heat transfer coefficient with radiator/panel temperature. And you also have to enter the radiant fraction of the heat emitted from the device. I don’t really understand why you have to define two parameters instead of one, the radiant fraction of the heat emitted from the device.

Thank you very much for your attention,
Bests regards,

The orientation does not only impact the convective fraction, or there would be no need to specify both. The orientation also affects the coefficients of the Alamdari and Hammond convective heat transfer equations (see Section 4.6 of the ApacheSim Calculation Methods User Guide). Coefficients a and b both vary based on orientation.
