Attaching DXF but not appearing in IES window

Post by josheaR »

Hi all,

I have just started using IES VE and have just tried attaching a DXF file from AutoCAD to allow me to trace over it. Unfortunately when I open the DXF file I can't see it in IES. I was thinking it might be something to do with it being in the wrong i.e. metres but I changes it to milimetres and still nothing. I was also thinking that it might be because the drawing in autocad has white lines and the background in IES is white.

If this could be the cause of the problem how would I go about changing the background colour or line colour in IES? or if it is likely that it could be something else please let me know. All help appreciated :)

Thanks

wiggle your mouse about the screen and look at the x/Y coordinates displayed.

If they are massive then your DXF is hundreds of miles up to the top right of the window.

recentre the DXF and re-import OR keep zooming up to the top right and you'll see it... kind of weak but not worth beating yourself up over.

tip: if you draw the zones at the same offset as the DXF then move them to 0,0 when you are finished.

pretty sure there's an FAQ on the IES site to cover how to do that.

If you have a white DXF appearing on a white background, the following FAQ will help you fix it:

Simple answer I presume but how do I actually move the DXF? I have the problem of a tiny spec of a floor plan in the top right of my screen and support suggested I could move it but because it's barely visibly whilst keeping the red cross hair on screen, I'm not sure what click / drag procedure is required.

Sometimes the speck turns red once I have chosen move DXF but then the move DXF check mark never seems to vanish, even if I try to turn it off in the menu.

I would re-centre it if I could but I don't use AutoCAD and my client has now gone on holiday!

attach dxf
click move dxf
left click on screen once and hold (this sets your handle)
drag, the dxf will move according to where you move the mouse cursor in relation to where you first click
let go, DXF will move the distance and direction
