How in the world do I get the sketchup plugin working?

This toolbar sits within the Trimble SketchUp application and gives direct access to all of IES' tools: VE-Ware, VE-Toolkits VE-Gaia and the full VE-Pro suite.

How in the world do I get the sketchup plugin working?

Post by clorenz531 »

This forum looks pretty dead but I feel like I have to ask just in case.

After using the VE for a while, I felt like it would benefit me to use sketchup to draw the geometry for the more complicated buildings and use the IES plugin to bring it into the VE for all the thermal fun.

When I installed Sketchup (twice v. 2013 & 2014) I went into the addins browser, and found the IES only to be met with a message saying basically "it should install automatically." It didn't. How do I install it?

Okay, I got it installed, but windows are coming in as doors. That's weird.

Hi,

I think you probably found your way to the plug-in now. When you access via the SketchUp Add-ins store it assumes you don't have IES VE at all yet and so takes you to the product page on our website from where you can get the VE downloaded and installed and yes as part of that installation if you already have SketchUp then the plug-in will be installed.

In our case you already had VE before installing SketchUp so only needed the plug-in installer. We've added a link to the same product page guiding you to where you can download the plug-in installer itself. I'm sure this will help the next person.

Windows -> Doors - have a look at the guidance notes on using the plug-in and make sur eyou have correcly defined the windows so the plug-in can pick them up.
