VE MFC Application has stopped working - ASHRAE 90.1

Post by vtm »

Hi,
I am using ASHRAE 90.1 App.G -PRM 2010 Navigator to achieve results for LEED Energy Performance Calculations as well as ASHRAE 62.1 Ventilation calculations.

I always use an ASHRAE HVAC System from the library and then assign a group of rooms to that. For this simple case the load calculations work. But if i want to use two different HVAC Systems in one file and assign two different groups, it often causes problems. Also, if I delete one HVAC System after I already run one simulation and want to use a different one instead and assign the group of rooms again, the Error "VE MFC Application has stopped working" appears.

Another Error which often appears when I want to run the room load calculations for the whole model is "Too many points on percentage profiles". I'm not quite sure what that means, have I got too many rooms (our model has >1000 rooms) or am I using too many different thermal profiles? I am always using the ASHRAE standard thermal profiles.

Thank you!

Hi,

Our QA Team would like to look into this further but I am struggling to reproduce the error base don what you said. If you can define the steps to reproduce the error on one of your test models please email the model cab and instructions on how the error is prompted to feedback@iesve.com so our QA Team can investigate further.

too many points on percentage profiles sounds like you have created modulating profiles that have too many rows. I can't remember offhand what the limitation is for individual profiles but there is an absolute limit for the project in terms of the number of datapoints allowed and this is about 7500 so if you have a lot of profiles in the project you may be exceeding this. To resolve delete some unused profiles from the project.*

* On that point VE 2013 Feature Pack 2 had updates int he ASHRAE 90.1 2010 Navigator to automatically generate dimming profiles for lighting gains base don Radiance sensors calculations. This is done for each room and could result in many profiles being added to the project which might be what happened here. There is a hotfix available for this from our Download Centre that resolves this and some other associated problems and I'd recommend installing that if you haven't' already
