Translucent facades turn to opaque after launching VE

Post by selcuk »

I have a project on Sketchup. It has opaque and translucent parts on its facades. Some rooms' translucents facades turn to opaque facades after I identify rooms and launch VE. What is the main problem for that. I have tried several models from Sketchup but the results are all the same. I m really sick of this problem and unable to finish my work. Please someone help me.

Hi,

I have your SketchUp file so will take a look.

In the meantime if you have ModelIT it is probably worth your while just to redo the VE after import so you can proceed with your analysis in the VE applications

Hi Phil,

I am sorry but really couldn't understand your suggestion. Could you please be more clear what should I do until you finish looking my model.

I tried to save the identified version of my model. I save a copy right after the identification finished. Unfortunately the newly saved model has no rooms identified.

you can't save the identified model unfortunately. The main problem I've had with your project is it takes hours to identify the rooms, this shouldn't be necessary on any well constructed model (with good use of room grouping etc) but I appreciate it takes more experience working with our plug-in to be able to build such models first time.

My last note didn't make sense! I meant finish the glazing in ModelIT after import. You should be able to get all the rooms in with no problem so if it's just a case of some missing glazing then ModelIT has tools that allow that to be easily applied and you are ready to start analysing your model.

Dear Phil,

Thank you for your reply. Last night I sent you another email including my newly grouped model (a small part). It quickly identifies the rooms, but the problem occures again. (glazing turns to walls). I also sent you the screeenshots of the model viewer on ies Ve and the xray on sketchup to see the problem. Have you received that?

Hi,

I just sent you a mail. The problem (for benefit of others) is the way the glazing was defined, it was over complicated by drawing window panels within larger window panels and the plug-in has failed to identify it properly for some walls.

I'll pass the model to the development team to improve this but in the meantime I'd simplify the glazing to just model the large glazed areas.

Thanks very much for the suggestion. It's certainly one idea I've considered, and I have already attempted somewhat; saving as different versions of the file, and even copy and pasting out into new Sketchup files, before transferring. It doesn't seem to have helped so I also wondered if you had any other tips or tricks which might be a bit more streamlined?
