IES Plug-In Compatibility (Revit LT)

IES's specially developed Revit plug-in Toolbar allows Revit Architecture and MEP users to import their 3D BIM model into IES's software and undertake sustainable performance analysis.

IES Plug-In Compatibility (Revit LT)

Post by Gardnerrw1 »

Can anyone confirm whether the IES Plug-In is compatible with Revit LT?
My employer is looking to invest in Revit, purely for the purposes of being able to bring Revit models into IES and we want to confirm if this can be done through Revit LT? Has anyone any experience with this? Thanks!

The IESVE plug-in for Revit is only compatible with the full Revit suite. Our link requires gbXML and I don’t think Revit LT supports the definition of an analytical model through the placement of rooms/spaces and gbXML export. Looking at the comparison list below suggests it doesn’t support 3rd party application programming interface (api) wither which means we wouldn’t be able to make a plug-in compatible with it so it would appear Autodesk would like to limit what it can be used for.

If you were only interested in Revit for modelling and export to IESVE then I would suggest you could look into a combination of ModelIT the native modelling application in VE and also SketchUp which is free and offers an IESVE plug-in. You will get a far better and more robust model transfer using this route and ModelIT can be used either to build models or to make small adjustments rather than going through the export/import process for each small change. Have a look at that route and I think it will suit you well although if you had other reasons for choosing Revit I guess this also has to be factored as VE currently doesn’t offer any model export options to go back to Revit.
