Model Viewer II and Ies VE 2014

Post by selcuk »

I updated my ies to 2014. But model viewer II shows only ground plane. It doesn't show my model. I tried Ies VE 2013 and the model viewer II works there. Is there a problem with the 2014 version or am I doing something wrong? I also tried several VE projects that I already saved before. On vista pro model viewer does the same error.

Hehe maybe you should.

Well my PC at work is top spec, fully updated etc and MVII just crashes the damn thing. It wasnt that great on VE 2013. It would creak and freeze. Ive got a good graphics card on it too. Now it wont work at all on 2014 and to get a shot of the building for a report I have to export is as 6.11 and open it on 2013. Daft. Be nice for IES to acknowledge issues and post that they are looking into them from time to time.

I can't help but just out of interest are you importing the model from revit?

Nope my models are all built in ModelIT. Even just drawing a square box only and trying MVII crashes my IES.

It would be nice if someone from IES could pop in and make suggestions. Ive tried settings etc but nope.

i've only had problems with models imported from revit etc. I put this down to too many surfaces and redrew some of the building.

you can also get a problem if your model is not drawn at 0,0

can't think of anything else at the moment.

Yep. All my models are always 0,0 after I once encountered issues too. Its strange.

I am surprised this works for you in VE 2013 but not VE 2014. First thing to check is that your Standard Data & Weather Files installation is up to date. The following post goes over this: http://bit.ly/1ioA6MR

If you have v2.5.0 then try starting a new project in VE 2014. Draw one room and open Model Viewer II. If that works then it is probably a project specific issue so create a CAB archive of your project and send it into support using the submit a query form on our website: http://www.iesve.com/support/contact-support-team
