Identify rooms

Post by Bart »

I'm using sketchup for a office building with shafts, but the plugin doesn't identify the shaft right. It gives twice a name to the shaft, one time without the beneath room and one with the room beneath. See picture.

How can I ensure that the plugin doesn't identify the shaft two times?

Hi,

I think I can guess what has happened here. Sometimes SketchUp will allow you to end up with two versions of the same geometry overlapping. If for example you are using groups/components then they will be exploded for the plug-in to identify rooms but occasionally the exploded version isn't removed again. To add to the risk SketchUp can lock and hide groups so you don't even know they are there.

Have a look at the model using the browser in SketchUp and this way you can see all groups and components and unlock/unhide them. Do some checks to see if this is the case, tidy it up and try again.

Also review these shafts to ensure they are defined properly as sealed volumes and if they are entirely internal then remember the room in a room guidance (the room surrounding it has to be partitioned so it is not a complete donut shape)
