Equipment Energy Consumption Error

Post by L Headley »

Hi,

My BRUKL document is showing a difference in energy consumption for the equipment between the actual and notional builing. Every BRUKL document I have produced before the figures have been the same.

The Actual building is way higher than the notional building and although it is not included in the total sum will this have an effect on the BRUKL results? and any idea as to why this is occuring?

Thanks

That's quite odd, they should be the same. Potentially it will be having an impact on your heating and cooling loads.

If you change the settings before running the model to get IES to separate out and report on the different internal gains then you should be able to intorrogate the equipment gains in vista in both the actual and notional building results files and see if they really are different.

If they are, you could then delve further to attempt to figure out if it's just a single space that is causing the problem or whether all the gains are different or whether there is a pattern that could give you a clue.

Thanks for your reply. I did check the equipment gains in vista and they were the same which completely threw me off.

I have since worked out that the ceiling voids I had modelled were set to a building template which was set as heated space even though in tabular data I had them set as an internal void with no heating, cooling or gains of any kind.
I changed their template to be an internal void and it fixed the problem even though in theory there was no difference becuase they still have no heating, cooling or gains. One of the many perks of IES haha

Thanks
