Has anyone got any information on how we should perform BREEAM 2011 ENE 01 calculations for buildings which will fall under the new English or Welsh Part L 2013/14 regulations?
I would presume we will need to also run those buildings under the current Part L 2010 version of the software in order to calculate the ENE 01 points?

Re: BREEAM 2011 and Part L 2013/14
I think under BREEAM 2011 then you will still be required to generate the BRUKL.inp file to feed into the online ENE 01 calculator.
Fortunately this should be easy enough in VE 2014 (when it gets released) as it will hold both the 2010 and 2013 L2 regulations so you will be able to switch between them to run the relevant calcs with minimum effort (as long as you have licences for each).
This option will be available for both SBEM and ApacheSim DSM routes and when new regulations updates are added over the next year or so (Wales, Scotland etc) I think we'll be able to keep adding them in this way.

Hi Phil,
When the Welsh regs are finally launched, do you have any idea whether IES will be pitching them as a separate licence, or will it come bundled with the Part L 2013 licence?
i.e. Am I going to have to buy it as a separate product or will I get it for free!?

Re: BREEAM 2011 and Part L 2013/14
I'm not able to answer that one, it partially will depend on how much development and maintenance effort is required for the update so if the new Welsh regs are close to the 2013 L2 then it should be a bit "easier" (I always get in trouble for saying things will be easy for the development team to do) to implement and the licence could be available to L2 2013 licence holders for a smaller maintenance fee.
It's a sales decision ultimately and will depend on what's involved in developing it, we do try to be reasonable with these things though.

Hello,
Is there any update on the discussion above? Should we use Part L 2010 to calculate the Ene 1 credits? Is there any confirmation on the status of the Software for Wales?
Cheers,
Matt

Re: BREEAM 2011 and Part L 2013/14
Matt, yes, you should create a 2010 compliant model for the purposes of calculating BREEAM 2011 credits.
While I've not seen an official confirmation of this from BRE, it is implied since their BREEAM 2011 Ene01 Converter calculation website will only accept models created using the 2010 compliant editions.
John.

for completeness on the Welsh regs question
We released the SBEM interface for Wales 2014 regs in VE 2014 Feature Pack 2 last year and the DSM will be in VE 2015 which is expected to be released by start of May 2015
