Useful of Suncast

Post by janiqua »

I'm slightly confuse about the function and the usefulness of suncast. Can anyone help me to understand that?

Hi,

The website should help http://www.iesve.com/software/ve-for-en ... unCast/457

The SunCast application in VE allows you to calculate shading solar insolation in the model. There is an option to calculate a shading file which simulates design days for the model geometry and can track solar penetration through a building taking into account shading objects you have drawn and self shading from the building rooms, this can then be plugged into Apache to improve the accuracy of the solar gain etc calculated in the simulations.

In addition SunCast offers useful results feedback showing solar exposure on surfaces and visual analysis to generate images that allow you to analyse shading performance and using Model Viewer 2 you can view solar intensity and exposure colouring on the 3D interactive model.

The User Guide has a lot of detail on how it is used as well as some good descriptions of the capabilities.
