Modelling smaller spaces within a larger space

Post by Tanveer Alam »

I am working on a project where there are a few smaller spaces contained within a larger space. I have been facing problem to create these smaller spaces as IES displays the intersection warning. Does anyone know any technique to achieve the same ? I am aware of creating multiple spaces around smaller spaces then connecting or merging them but it is taking too much time in my case.

First, Turn off space intersection check. Using Int=off in the command box.
Divide outer zone to multiple small zones, each small zone contact to 1/2 perimeter of internal zone only.
You can leave multiple small zones or connect them into 1 big zone with some "courtyard" for internal zones. If you connect them, IES warns about zone intersection when checking, but no problem. The way that IES check intersection is not perfect in this case.
