Ground Source Heat Pump

Post by spinep »

Does anyone know how to set up a ground source heat pump system?

In the Air-source Heat Pump for PSZ system you can change the Heat Source to GSHP illustrative values (relatively stable source temperature)

this isn't an area I have much experience in I'm afraid but we have a knowledge base article that could help you get started (and maybe some experienced user can follow up or answer any further detailed questions you might have?)

I'm not sure of the article Phil was referencing, but Appendix D of the current ApHVAC User Guide addresses techniques for modeling ground source systems.

Unless you have GLD or create a profile of the return water temperature, you will have to assume a stable return water temp from the wells. I then use the WLHP prototype system. Change the performance curves to GWHP and set everything to size based on the water source heat exchanger. Depending on whether you have a boiler or cooling tower, you may want to remove those components from the loop.
