Solar Shading Properties

Post by wyliecoyote »

Hi,

Just wondering if there is a way to represent brise soleil made out of glazing. (i.e being able to edit the reflectance's).

As far as I am aware, I know this can be done in Radiance for daylighting purposes but not in apache for a thermal simulation.

Can anyone shed some light on this.

Thanks in advance!

You are correct that there is no simple way to model an external transparent shading element in Apache. This is because solar gains will not pass from one zone to another unless they are physically connected by an intermediate zone. I think the best you can do in such a situation is to adjust the g value/light transmittance of the main glazing, although this is hardly ideal.
