reassigning surface category

Post by ew0187 »

I am trying to change a roof to a roof light so i can incorporate roof light glazing. is there anyway to reassign the category a surface is defined as?

if i look into the query for the particular surface, it say roof and i want to change it to roof light. Or, If i look at a external wall surface and i want to change it to be defined as an internal wall, how do i go about do that

Hi,

The category is updated as a result of the adjacency or opening held in the surface.

1. Change roof to a rooflight by drawing a rooflight on the roof, select the roof then draw glazing on it as you would a window.

2. Make an external wall an internal partition by drawing a second room adjacent to the wall so it becomes internal.

so there is no way of reassigning the surface category without adding additional objects that are connected directly to the surface

no, as in the cases described above you have to modify the geometry to add rooflights, windows etc and adjacencies are worked out based on the adjacent rooms.
