Just upgraded from 5.9 to 6.1.1. How do you now add or amend or delete local shading, for example to test the effect of different external blinds or brise soleil?

Re: Adding/amending/deleting local shading
As far as I can tell, you model 1st without and run a sim. Then add your local shading devices ie you draw them then run a sim, then modify them and run a sim. I havent found a way to 'turn them off' yet. You can then select all sim runs for a room and note the solar gain graphs superimposed.

HI,
The difference between <VE> 5.9 and <VE> 6 in terms of adding shading surfaces is that in 5.9 you had to add them by attaching an obstructions file and from 6.0 onwards you can draw them in the same project as the building room geometry (when drawing just change the type from room to one of the shading options).

Re: Adding/amending/deleting local shading
I wasn't clear in my last posting. After I had upgraded to 6.1.1, I opened a project created in 5.9 which 6.1.1 upgraded without any problems, and I then re-attached an obstructions file not realising then that obstructions were now handled as local shading in the new version. It is this old obstructions geometry that I want to get rid of.

Re: Adding/amending/deleting local shading
I understand, in that case you won't be able to delete/detach the obstructions in bulk but you should find you can now select each obstructions object as a separate shading object and use the usual delete.
You should see the rooms browser is sorted into rooms then shading objects so it should be fairly quick for you to select all the shading objects at once (click the top shading object then hold Shift and select the bottom object is a fast way to select them all), you can then delete all using the delete button.
Hope this is a quick solution for you

Re: Adding/amending/deleting local shading
Phil, thanks for your reply.
That was one of the first things I tried, but the objects are not selectable and the delete icon stays greyed out. I can only turn them on or off.
