Multiple DHW systems

Post by Jonnymac »

This is for a SBEM/EPC calculation

I have a building with two DHW systems which feed the whole building.
System one is a cylinder linked to the LTHW, with a solar preheat cylinder linked to solar panels.
System 2 is a cylinder linked to the LTHW, with a pre heat cyclinder linked to an air source heat pump

both systems feed into the hot water supply.

Not sure how to do two seperate systems, if these were to serve different parts of the same building, never mind the same.

Enjoy!

I don't really know much about SBEM or EPC, but within your templates manager you can assign a DHW system for each template. What I would do is create the two systems with ONLY the DHW configured and only use it for modelling DHW.

If both systems feed into the same DHW supply, I'd simplify it by assigning some rooms to System 1 and some rooms to System 2 (using the templates manager). Unfortunately the systems simulation part is weak in IES, and even ApacheHVAC won't help as it doesn't simulate water systems, just air systems.
