Sketchup Model wil not load into VE pro

Hello all,

I am having trouble getting the sketchup model to load into VE Pro. Using SketchUp Pro 8 and the latest plugin. Even the most basic box, after room creation and location is set does not appear in VE pro. Not sure whether anyone else is having issues with this. The licences are still current, I have uninstallled and reinstalled the software and it just fails to find the model.

I am guessing it is something to do with the SU8 Plugin as it works with SU7. My trouble is I have 50 su8 Pro licences here at Coventry.

Any suggestions?

Hi Paul,

The plug-in should be working ok with SketchUp 8. Make sure the SketchUp model is saved prior to export and keep it somewhere you have full permissions such as C:\Temp while you are troubleshooting.

What you should find happens when you identify rooms then export to <VE> is that beside the SketchUp .skp model a veExport folder is created containing the exported vexml and a <VE> project folder. Can you check if any of these are being generated?

Check the project name, path and all room name sin the model to make sure there are no non-standard characters as this has been known to break the link in the past.

Hello Phil,
I am not sure what just happened, but I deleted a veExport folder from the C drive and it has worked. It was creating a veexport folder outside the test folder or so I think. Now I get the familiar bunch of folders and the MIT file which was not being generated.

Thanks for the assistance. All I need to do now is learn how to use the software. I have a lifetime ahead of me.

Yeah, getting the model from SketchUp to <VE> should be the easy part. Hopefully there is enough out there to help you get up to speed with VE-Pro (maybe Gaia is a good entry point for you?).
