Interstitial Blinds and Ventilated Cavities

Post by loulou »

Does anyone simulate interstitial blinds in ventilated cavities such as thin double skin facade?

If yes any tips or guidance values for transmittance, reflectance, emissivity SC and SHGC?

I've already seen in Apache Constructions Database some tips section 13.2, but not enough to really understand how it works.

Cheers

Blinds need 2 parameters in ApConstruction, Shading cofficient and shortware coff. (suggested value are 0.6 and 0.3, with full open blinds value for shading coff = 0.85) Don't forget to set profile, > 0.5 is on. VE has no option to put shading device to inner glazing so you should assign to outside glazing.

Thank you.

To assign the shading to my outer glazing, I just need to assign my glazing type as Blind, isn't it?

Do you have the exact formula to calculate the solar gain in a room, because I can't find the same results (approx.) by hand and with ApacheSim. My problem is how APachesim takes in account the Shading Coefficient in the calculation.

You should add shadingdevice/blinds to outside glazing when you are in "Project construction" dialog.

Second question : Refer ApacheSimCalculationMethods chapter 7.1,2,3 for more calculation detail in ApacheSim, I'm sure this document has formula in calculation of incident solar flux.
