Have you already seen this error with Suncast: the following errors were found in the Shading file error in [Surfaces] Data....we recommend to re-calculate..... ?
Any ideas how to fix it?
This appears after running suncast an then lauch calculation with Apachesim.
Cheers

Re: SunCast Error
Hi,
I was discussing this issue with Vajindar earlier today.
Generally this error will occur when your model has issues in the geometry (in ModelIt do a geometry check using Settings menu >> geometry, check for Intersections, non-planar surfaces and Unmatched adjacencies). Try to correct these before re-running SunCast.
We have seen some models where there are no error sin the geometry and this error still occurs for a valid shading file. If you are certain the shading file is valid (i.e. you run SunCast then immediately try to run the simulation) then we have modified the message (in <VE> 6.3) to now give the error to proceed with the simulation.
The development team are investigating this using some sample projects and hope to have a full solution released in a <VE> update soon.

Re: SunCast Error
I'm under VE 6.3.
Even after running a check geometry with no problem found, I have still the message.
Otherwise, I've done a simulation with another project, no message.
Let me know if you have an issue.
Cheers

Re: SunCast Error
ok, thanks for checking this.
If you can send over the project to IES Support, the development team can use it for debugging when finding a robust solution to this issue.

Let me know if you find something.

Re: SunCast Error
Hi,
After examining your model , we came to know that , the geometry is way away from the origin & this is the cause of the problem.
After moving the geometry close to the origin we can successfully run the simulation with apache link ON.
Note:
When you move the geometry please re-calculate 'Solar shading' file.
I have already sent you the modified model.
Thanks Phil & Pete.

Yep, It's working!
Thank you,
Thank you,
Re: SunCast Error
I just had the same problem, even though the model was almost right next to the red cross. Just moving the entire model so the red cross was in the middle of my model was enough to remove this error.
