hi,
if you should implement a buidling with an atrium. How should this be entered in IESve in the best way? Like one room ore divided for every floor, conected with holes so that the internal gains etc can be implemented in level 0.
regards,
atrium

Re: atrium
Dear Charlotte,
This is for the first time I am drawing a atrium. The simplest method could be draw a atrium for the ground floor & then draw rooms surrounding it without any intersection. Then again draw a atrium for the first floor & then draw rooms surrounding it without any intersection.
Repeat the same procedure for number of floors you have. Once you are done with drawing connect all the atrium with removing partition.
Give topmost opening (I have given here 100% , it depends upon your requirement & it will effect for your apache simulation).
Charlotte, if you have not attended any training program for ModelIT & other IES<VE> modules then I would strongly recommend you to go for it.

I hope this has been of some help.

Re: atrium
Hi Vajindar,
Regarding constructing an atrium, I am currently working on a building which has an atrium extending from the basement to the roof. I am importing the drawings using the "Construct DXF" tool. My question is this:
If you are modelling an underground floor (basement), do you start the basement floor at the 0 metre plane an build up? Or would you start the ground floor at 0 metres and then bring the basement in underneath it? When you then look at the building in the 3D model viewer, the basement will be under the green 0 metre plane. Is this the correct approach? When I do this, and create a hole in the floor of the ground floor atrium and a hole in the ceiling of the basement atrium, I cannot see through the 0 metre plane in the 3D model viewer. Does the model still recognise that there is a hole and that the basement atrium is connected all the way up through the building?
Any help is much appreciated.

Re: atrium
Hi,
The simplest thing while drawing is to set the 'Plane' value from 'Shape setting' form. If I am drawing a basement I will put '-ve' value for the plane (depending upon the requirement) & I will mention the height.
There is a 'Go to Room function' button which will take you inside the selected room from model browser
.
You can toggle the display of ground plane clicking 'Toggle ground plane display' button from the 'Model Viewer' toolbar.
