Heating profile problem

Post by amymaxim »

Hi, I am having some problem in order to control the heating of my builiding. When I go to Building Template Manager in the heating part I can assign a Heating profile; however I have been trying different profiles and it acts strange. I have two rooms. The profiles I have tried are the following:

If I try (to<12) I get a total boiler consumption of 3,1499
If I try (tdr(2)<12) I get a total boiler consumption of 09742
If I try (tdr(21)<12) "Note: I don not have 21 rooms, I only have 2" I get a total boiler consumption of 6,5274

My question is: How is it possible that putting a ramdom number like 21 my boilers work? And then how do I know that putting tdr(2) is actually considering what is happening in the second room?

Thank you in advacne

Hi,

Questions like this are best answered through a little exploration of the software, run some test sims and compare the results and you will answer this question and improve your VE skills at the same time.

When you have a valid room number in the profile you should be able to see this at work by looking at that rooms temperature and on charts you can see when the heating comes in (you might want to try a few different sim timesteps and reporting intervals to see this better as it may result in your heating switching on and off rapidly if you also have a heating setpoint controlling the boilers).

When the profile contains a reference to a non-existent room then it will behave as if it's on continuously, run a sim with the invalid profile and then another with the heating profile on conts, compare the results and you will see they match.

The problem is that I have checked that with a small model with two rooms and yes it works as you mention. However, now I have a whole building and one of the rooms was been made by conecting severl spaces, and this is the room that I want to control the heating profile. In the model IT when i select it it apears room number 20 and ID MCRC0000, when I count on the left menu is the room number 21 (I start counting from 1 not from 0). So in the appache profiles I put tdr(21)<15. So my heating coil should work when in that room the temperature is less than 15. I summer i have temperatures around 20 and still I have boiler load in vista. What could be happening? When I combine spaces it still detects which is the right number?

use the room number displayed in ModelIT (room index starts at 0 not 1). It does sound like this will then behave as you desire.
