Adding new materials and their properties

Post by WayneBracher »

Dear all,

I am modelling a simple test pod building in order to simulate values of embodied energy, embodied carbon and operational energy as part of my MSc dissertation.

I am currently having a few issues regarding adding new materials and in particular giving them properties such as embodied energy and carbon. I can see how to add a material to the project materials and insert properties such as thermal conductivity, density and specific heat capacity. However, I need to add the embodied energy and carbon properties of my new construction materials such as cob and straw bale.

Could anyone please direct me as to how to add these materials and their properties for use with the IES-ve 6.2 software please.

Please bare in mind that I am a relatively new user of this software so it may need a bit more explanation.

Many thanks

Hi,

The VE Constructions Database doesn't record embodied energy at all, it is only really interested in the data associated with the Constructions that is fed into the thermal an lighting analyses in VE.

Hope this clarifies
