Why can't identify internal windows?

I am now building a model with internal window at balcony of each unit flat. Unfortunately, the internal windows cannot be identified after extracting the DXF. Other rooms, doors and external windows are identified well.

I don't want to add window to each surface manually since it is time-consuming. Are there any shortcuts doing this task?

I'm not sure if ConstructDXF discriminates between internal and external windows so maybe just check they are drawn the same way on the dxf and they meet the criteria set out for Construct DXF to work.

If all is right but this is still a problem then I don't know many quick ways of adding the windows other than spending an hour two doing it manually (if it is a large repeated office with multiple floors you might find it easier to just work on one floor then copy it up?)

I am also wondering whether the model is capable to construct the same floor by attaching 2 dxfs, and without superseding the first one. What I am thinking is that the 1st dxf constructs and outlines the room extents only whilst the 2nd dxf locates the exact locations of windows (both internal and external).

I don't think you can do that, I'm pretty sure ModelIT only allows one dxf to be placed on a view - try it and see?

I think you are better to put the whole thing together in CAD first then import as a single DXF and then Construct DXF can be used. Also, I'd just note that in cases where Construct DXF isn't working as you'd expect you can use the ModelIT locks/snaps and quite quickly trace the DXF to build the model.

Sorry I'm not much use on the DXF stuff, it's not something I have much experience with.

I havent had much experience with DXF either, but from the drawings i get from the architect it would be waste of time to import those into IES, because of the small "errors" they always have in them, specially if you use internal volumes, if you want to be sure that the size of the rooms are correct.
